Love on Him

We hear this a lot, that we need to “Love on others”. We do, but what does that mean? It means showing them that they are loved through our actions.

What’s the fastest way to a man’s heart? His stomach, right. What are his favorite meals? Favorite desserts? Are they healthy? Can you make them the same way he likes without sacrificing their being wholesome?

Spend the time learning your man’s stomach, what he likes and doesn’t like. My mom, after almost 30 years of marriage, discovered that my dad didn’t really like broccoli, which we had quite regularly because the rest of us did. Oops. {Mind you this has become a big joke in our family, because it is such a silly little thing in the middle of a strong, healthy marriage.}

How to Use Your Martha to Be a Mary for Your Husband Love on Him

Has he had a hard day at work? Give him 2 minutes of attention. Whether it’s letting him vent, giving him a massage or some other thing that will help him to relax. Let him know that you are there for him, that you care about him and his day.

Sex. There I’ve said it. Most men, respond really well to sex {surprise, surprise!}. Most women, aren’t as willing to love on their husband’s in this way, for a variety of reasons and some women are. Put yourself aside, many times if  you change your actions the heart will follow. Talk to your husband, find out how you can, quite literally, serve him better.

Learn his love language: Rediscover this man that you’ve been with for 5 months, 5 years or 5 decades. This is the man that you’ve promised to stand by for the rest of your life, to love and to cherish. How much more important could anything be than keeping this relationship in good standing, after the work day, after the kids are grown, it’s going to be just the two of you. Better to keep in touch now, than to have to reacquaint yourself with each other in 20 or 30 years.

I hope this weeks posts have given you a few new ideas about how you can take the busy work you’re already doing and continue to love on your husband more deeply.
